Two New Professors at RASA

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture (RASA) will in 2008 fill two of the school’s prestigious professorships with female applicants:

Anne Beim, Ph.D., Head of CINARK, associate professor, and architect will be appointed Professor
of Architectural Technology, and

Olga Popovic Larsen, Ph.D., associate professor, architect, and civil engineer, will be appointed Professor of Structures in Architecture.

Anne Beim has played a central role in the world of building research, and has built up an extensive network within the profession of architecture, as well as the construction sector.  Anne Beim has vast experience in education, not just from KA and similar educational institutions, but also in connection with numerous courses, symposiums and conferences in many professional branches of the construction sector.  Moreover, Anne Beim has solid experience in leadership and collaborative experience on a research project/centre level. 

She is currently employed as associate professor at KA and Head of CINARK, Center of Industrialised Architecture. 

Olga Popovic Larsen has a distinguished background in research and education from the past 18 years of activities as an educator on all levels.

Olga Popovic Larsen documents several relevant research achievements and interests in the form of articles and books, among others, Conceptual Structural Design: Bridging the Gap between Architects and Engineers. She has also been the mastermind behind the introduction of pedagogic models and considerations, in line with, and which will serve as an expansion of KA’s tradition of research and education in the field of Structures in Architecture.

Olga Popovic Larsen is currently employed as associate professor at the University of Sheffield’s Department of Architecture, where she has been a staff member since 1996, focusing on Architecture/Structures in Architecture.

Rector Sven Felding is very pleased to welcome the two new appointments:

“We are really getting some worthy inheritors to fill out these two professorships at our Institute of Technology. And as an extra twist to the story, it is worth mentioning that this very year we are celebrating 100th anniversary for the first admittance of women at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture.”
