Dato:  15.02.10

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture has conferred a Doctor of Architecture degree on Reader Finn Barnow on the basis of his doctoral dissertation Træk af byudviklingens historie, bd. 1-4 (Outline of the History of Urban Development, vol. 1-4), covering urban development from c. 5000 BC to c. 1960 AD.

The assessment committee gave the following reasons for recommending the doctorate: “The crucial strength of the dissertation lies in the extensive discourse and methodical stringency, which bring it in line with the best urban theoretical research tradition. In his four books, the author presents synthesis and conclusive research into the history of urban development, setting a level of ambition of European format”.
