

Danish-Tanzanian cooperation on architectural education and research

Ardhi University is one of the new public Universities in Tanzania formed from the transformation of the then University College of Lands and Architectural Studies. Primary focus is on architecture with the objective to strengthen urban and regional planning in Tanzania. The University consist of six schools, through which it offers a range of both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes.
The aim of the agreement is to promote an ongoing mutual cooperation within fields that are beneficial to both parties. Cooperation will be pursued through the exchange of training material and information, research, exchange of research results and other publication as well as through the exchange of and assistance to visiting faculty members, research scholars and students. Further on, collaboration on Undergraduate and Graduate programmes are planned.
Ardhi University is a product of joint efforts by the Government of Tanzania and bilateral support from, among others, the Danish Government. The then Ardhi Institute was established in the early 1970’s and the Danish support to the institute started in 1978. Since then Denmark has been instrumental by helping to create the environment, infrastructure and human resources available at the University.
