In connection with the international climate summit COP15 in Copenhagen, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture’s Institute of Technology and Institute of Planning have joined forces with architect Philippe Rahm, researchers and students to bring into focus the role of architecture in the ongoing climate debate.
The exhibit Climate and Architecture is a sensuous, poetic and architectonic contribution to the ongoing climate debate, which is currently dominating the public domain.
The challenges that the built environment is facing are extensive, but there are both competences and solution models hidden in cultural patterns and behaviors, in lived-in environments and building cultures, which can overcome such challenges. This transition will create and recreate qualities of life, and lead to better buildings and cities.
The goal is to recall memories of cultural characteristics in life and spatiality, of the significance of fundamental values to our behavior and to a physical, planning oriented and architectonic framework.
The message is clear and simple, yet, at the same time, immensely intrusive. This exhibit attempts to communicate this message, and is intended to be an eye-opener and provide food for thought.
On weekdays at 16:00 hrs and on weekends at 14:00 hrs, chef Daisuke Uki from Bento Restaurant & Cocktail Bar will visit the exhibition and carve fish. Free samples! For more information on Bento Restaurant, please go to http://www.uki.dk/
