With the exhibition Studiowork at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation, School of Architecture, architect Per Olaf Fjeld and artist Emily Randall Fjeld present their individual and joint works to a large audience for the very first time.
In a tightly organised and highly spatial layout, the exhibition displays works created through more than 30 years: exquisite drawings and precise scale models for architectural works juxtaposed with individual pieces of furniture and fantastic textural artworks create a dialogue field of refreshing pensiveness.
The fine mixture of material from the work processes and unique works is shown in interplay with a group of spatial wooden elements produced specifically for this exhibition. Here, you encounter original architecture, simple pieces of furniture and intense works of art in a deliberate choreography of sensuous presence and thoughtful contemplation. The exhibited works communicate a personal interpretation of both Nordic architecture and minimalist, artistic expressions.
Per Olaf Fjeld is a practising architect, professor and former rector at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. He has been closely associated with some of the most central figures in architecture, such as Louis Kahn and Sverre Fehn, with whom he has worked particularly closely and about whom he has written several books together with his wife Emily Randall Fjeld.
The exhibition's title, Studiowork, reflects Per Olaf Fjeld and Emily Randall Fjeld's unique, constant collaboration through more than 30 years, and at the same time, it presents Emily Randall Fjeld's selected works of art. The works have never previously been shown together to the public. The exhibition Studiowork offers both experts and a more widely orientated audience the opportunity to study the varied material in greater depth. An encounter with quite unique works that has a clear resonance and embraces sensuous, Nordic humanism.
